The article is dedicated to the analysis of the International Commission of Continental Erosion (ICCE) of International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) activity since foundation in 1981. The empirical data is the collections of scientific articles, published in IAHS Red Books after symposiums and workshops, organized by the ICCE. The activity of the ICCE can be described by a cyclic model of growth. It is shown that the ICCE scientific community is becoming progressively global.

Previously underestimated, lake sedimentation appears to be the leading agent of landscape transformation since the last glaciation at the Borisoglebsk Upland – one of the numerous marginal uplands in the center of the Russian Plain. Investigation of thick laminated surface drifts and associated buried soils and cryogenic features adds new genetic interpretation to the problem of mantle loams formation.

The paper presents the results of the study of gully erosion within the Pre-Kama region (Russia). It's based on monitoring (1984–1994 and 2015–2018) and the interpretation of high-resolution satellite images. The results suggested that the gully erosion have reduced. The main reason for the significant decrease in gully erosion was the increase in winter-spring air temperatures. The impact of land use, as well as erosion control measures was found to be less important.

The territory of the Republic of Tatarstan belongs to the region with the most developed agriculture in Russia. To ensure precision farming, we need to know cropland borders and the agrochemical properties of soils. The study was carried out based on aerial images analyses of the most intensively used part of the RT both with identification of soil indicators for each of the fields. Spatial location of cultivated crops makes it possible to assess the role of soil characteristics in these crops

In order to identify the risk of transformation of archaeological sites by fluvial processes bank erosion dynamics at Lukovskoe fortified settlement evaluated. UAV and GNSS methods applied to study the relief of monument territory. Historical maps, archival remote sensing data and actual orthophotoplans compared to get quantitative characteristics of monument territory damage. The results of research will help to identify trends in monuments state and to quantify the risks of their destruction.

The paper reflects the specifics of debris flow phenomena in the subarctic mountains of Russia. New data on magnitude and frequency of such processes in the past and on distribution and age of associated landforms in the Khibiny are provided. Revealed as one of the main Holocene landforming agents in the mountain valleys, debris flows show their dynamics to substantially reduce since last deglaciation, being replaced by slush flows with much less clastic content and higher eroding potential.

The paper demonstrates that the theoretical TCEV (Two Component Extreme Value) distribution can be applied to interpret sediment yield datasets available in Southern Italy. The analysis is based on historical records collected in twelve catchments located in Calabria and Basilicata and followed a hierarchical approach to derive a regional parent distribution from which a return time can be associated with each event. The research was carried out to study soil erosion risk at regional scale.

Key factors of sediment yield formation and variability in the Kamchatsky Krai are relief characteristics and climate (especially precipitation). The current climate changes (increase of air temperature and decrease of annual precipitation) in Kamchatka influence on sediment yield characteristics directly (influence of precipitation on surface washout formation) and indirectly (through water runoff and hydrological regime of rivers changes).

Study of hydraulic and channel changes the Lena River near city Yakutsk was done using STREAM_2D two-dimensional hydrodynamic model (author V. Belikov et al.). Channel changes forecast has shown that degradation of the Adamovskaya branch will be continued, which is the most negative impact for the Yakutsk city. However, to the end of the 10-year forecast period the equal distribution between Adamovskaya and Buorylarskaya channels is possible.

Two-dimensional hydrodynamic STREAM_2D model have been applied to the confluence of Amur and Zeya rivers. Main flow characteristics and possible channel changes are considered during modeling for two scenarios – without dams near Big Heihe Island (1) and with four dams in the side channels around the island (2). Results of modeling demonstrate impact of dams construction on flow concentrating in the main channel, which can lead to increasing of flow velocities and subsequent erosion in main Amur

Channel bank stability is one of the most important issues of sustainable future in the world, where lots of us live by the river. There is a direct response of the streams behavior to climate change, but the details of this process are still questionable. We studied channel bank erosion at the small river at the Black Sea coast. There was s set of observations, and we were lucky to catch the most extreme flood in the field, investigate its mechanism and measure the consequences.

Processes linked to climate change and intensified anthropogenic pressure influence the environment, the hydrology. Quantitative assessments of sediment fluxes and their temporal evolution in this mountain region are required for various environmental and engineering purposes, including the planning and maintenance of water reservoirs and other structures. we present a first analysis of the hitherto largest suspended sediment yield (SSY) database for the Caucasus region.

The method for reconstructing the long-term dependence of radionuclide concentrations in rivers and reservoirs based on their vertical distribution in bottom sediments is proposed. Reconstructed time dependencies of particulate and dissolved Cs-137 activity concentrations in the Upa River were found to be described well by the semi-empirical “diffusion” model.

The Selenga River, which takes its origin in Mongolia, contributes nearly 50% of the total inflow into Lake Baikal. Since 1996, a longest low-flow period has been observed. This paper explores the opportunities of spatially distributed process-based modeling for the assessment of possible runoff changes under climate projections in the XXI century using an ensemble of global climate models as inputs.

Specific fish species in the Lake Baikal, Coregonus migratorius, are spawning in the lake's tributaries, annualy migrating upstream. In the largest tributary, the Selenga river, the migration inversely depends on seasonal flow: the lower the discharge, the further upstream the fish can go. We explored the influence of climate change on the streamflow and on the subsequent fish migration distance, may result in spawning locations shift upstream, which is ecologically more favorable.

A number of sites in the Fukushima contaminated area were surveyed for long-term changes in dose equivalent rate above the soil surface during 2015–2017 using D-shuttle dosimeters. D-shuttle readings in most cases decreased faster than if due to radioactive decay only. More rapid decrease can be explained by natural attenuation processes, such as erosion of the topsoil, the vertical migration of radionuclides in the soil and the deposition of cleaner sediments transported by surface runoff.
