Short summary
This paper shares the results achieved by the educational programs in disaster management by the Geological Survey of Brazil. We managed to reach thousands of people interested to learn more about disaster management by adopting an asynchronous distance learning platform, we and discuss the political and legal framework of disaster management in Brazil, that define our current challenges. We hope our results are helpful and motivating to other individuals and institutions.
