Short summary
Unsustainable use of water and climate change will exacerbate the already existing tensions on resources. Innovative technologies (wireless sensor networks) were developed and tested in field through a participatory approach within two Mediterranean irrigated systems. We believe that the adoption of such technologies could contribute to improve irrigated systems sustainability by promoting sparing water use, helping maintain agricultural production and improving water users’ working conditions.
